Kundapur, June 17: Urban Development and Housing Minister UT Khader said that the government would give a serious thought to issue guidelines to construct eco-friendly buildings for not only Housing department but also for all departments in the state.
Inaugurating the eco-friendly Bearys Green Avenue apartment, which received by IGBC Platinum recognition, constructed by the Bearys Group at Koteshwara on Sunday, the Minister said that “he would shortly convene a meeting with the private companies. This is the need of the hour. If we save water and power, it will be the biggest asset we handed over to the next generation. This would also ensure good environment for all”, he said.
Nowadays, rural areas were also having more number of buildings and the sewage water being released from them was polluting the entire environment. So such buildings should not be given permission without Sewage Treatment Plants (STP). Respective gram panchayats should work honestly in such issues, he said.
Promising that he would introduce new programmes even in rural housing schemes, the Minister said that commercial complexes and education institutions run by the Bearys Group have contributed a lot for the society. Interestingly, the Group has become a society-oriented with its new initiative of eco-friendly building. The Bearys Green Avenue would become another Crown to Koteshwara, he said.
Kundapura MLA Haladi Srinivas Shetty said that the Bearys Group would not compromise in its quality construction and its environment-friendly initiatives like eco-friendly building, planting saplings and others were really commendable, he said.
Minister responds to Syed Beary
Presiding over the programme, Bearys Group chairman Syed Muhammad Beary said that Housing and Urban Development departments should have eco-friendly buildings. But they might cost more. More than money, water and power could be saved from such buildings, he said appealing Minister Khader take decision on this.
Responding to the appeal, Khader said that he would take this issue seriously. He would convene a meeting to elicit suggestions to adopt this method in all departments and invited Beary to the meeting.

Minister UT Khader handed over the IGBC Platinum recognition certificate to Beary Group chairman Syed Muhammad Beary on the occasion. Chandrashekar Hariharan of IGBC was present.
Kota Janata Fisheries president Anand Kundar, Kundapur Prabhakar Tiles Works managing partner Prakash T Sones, Koteshwara gram panchayat president Janaki Billava, land owner Sulaiman were present at the programme.
Those who cooperated in the construction of the building were felicitated with citations. Group director Siddique Beary proposed vote of thanks, while Veena Rajesh compere the programme.

Mumbai (PTI): Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Rajat Patidar, Phil Salt and Virat Kohli blasted half-centuries as the defending champions beat Mumbai Indians by 18 runs in an Indian Premier League match here on Sunday.
Salt (78 off 36 balls) and Kohli (50 off 38 balls) stitched together a 120-run stand for the opening wicket before Patidar scored a rapid 53 off just 20 balls as RCB posted 240 for 4.
In response, Mumbai Indians were restricted to 222 for 5, with RCB spinner Suyash Sharma (2/47) putting the skids on the home side with a double strike in the eighth over, from which they could not recover.
Sherfane Rutherford top-scored for MI with an unbeaten 71 off 31 balls.
While opener Rohit Sharma appeared to be struggling with a hamstring issue and had to retire hurt on 19, his partner Ryan Rickelton made 37, while Suryakumar Yadav (33) and Hardik Pandya (40) were the other contributors for MI.
