Mangaluru: Violating the lockdown and social distancing norms hundreds of migrant labourers on Tuesday gathered at the Mangaluru Town Hall premises as the Dakshina Kannada District Administration began procedure of sending migrant labourers to their home districts.

Ironically the labourers gathered at the Townhall made a mockery of social distancing norms, while several others were seen not wearing masks.

The Dakshina Kannada District Administration has been sending migrant labourers to their home Districts since last three days using the services and support of KSRTC. After getting the information on Tuesday, more than 500 migrant workers thronged to Town Hall premises in order to make their way to their home districts amidst the lockdown due to coronavirus.

Mangaluru Sub-Division’s Assistant Commissioner reached the spot after he came to know about violation of social distancing by the migrant workers and arranged for their travel to home districts.

Speaking to Vartha Bharati, Assistant Commissioner Madan Mohan added that it was not clear who asked the workers to gather here on Tuesday. He also added that arrangements were made to send these workers to their home town and also informed that over 800 migrant workers were sent to their home district on Monday.

He also added that the labor department will ascertain if they are migrant workers or not and they will also undergo medical examination before leaving the District. He also clarified that only 40 percent of bus capacity is being filled at a time on a trip.

Budaun (UP), Apr 30 (PTI): The Budaun Police on Thursday busted a gang allegedly involved in preparing fake Aadhaar cards and forged documents, and arrested three of its members, officials said.

The action was carried out in the Hazratpur area, where the accused were found operating an illegal setup to generate fake identity documents, they said.

The accused have been identified as Farman Ali, a resident of Munshi Nagla, Anuj Kumar of Uprela, and Brajnandan of Sirsauli.

The police said a fingerprint scanner, three laptops, a hard disk, a scanner, a large number of Aadhaar cards and several suspicious documents were recovered from their possession.

During interrogation, it was revealed that the gang had been involved in preparing fake identity documents for a long time, misleading people and earning money through illegal means, officials said.

Station House Officer Pushpendra Singh said the accused have been produced before a court, and efforts are underway to identify and arrest other members of the gang.

He added that further revelations are likely as the investigation progresses.
