Mangaluru: The Institute of Indian Interior Designers (IIID) Mangalore Regional Centre (MLRC) in association with Siemens Home Appliances Group and Master Class Studio had hosted the ‘Design & Food’ event at the Master Class Studio in Indian Design School campus on Friday, 20th May 2022. IIID is a pan-India organisation of designers’ fraternity comprising of architects, interior designers, and vendors of building materials. The Mangalore centre is the 33rd chapter of IIID.

The guests of honour present at the event were – award-winning interior designer Summesh Menon (Summesh Menon Associates, Mumbai), Ar. Venkatesh Pai (Chairman, IIA Mangalore), Ar. Sanath Kumar Shetty (founder of the SKS Group, Mangalore), AK Ahmed (Founder Chairman of AK Group), and the delegates of Siemens Home Appliances Group - Ranjith Nair (Senior Manager - Sales), Chef. Lovjeet Singh (Executive Chef of Bosch and Siemens), Ms. Shweta Rathod (Area Manager - Sales) and Bharath Shetty (Business Development Manager). The guests were felicitated by the Members of the Management Committee of IIID MLRC – Ar. Mohammed Nissar (Chairman), Ar. Anil Pai (Hon. Secretary), Ar. Sharun Anchan (Treasurer), Ar. Ramnath Nayak (Hon. Joint Secretary), Ar. Sonal Rao and Meraj Yusuf (Trade Member).

Ar. Venkatesh Pai officially unveiled the IIID MLRC logo along with IIID MLRC Management Committee members. Ar. Sanath Kumar Shetty, along with the delegates of Siemens Home Appliances Group, officially launched ‘A-Dough-Able Cookies’ which is a premium brand of cookies by the Master Class Studios. 

The prime focus of the event was “Design interaction” and “Food and cooking demonstration” – a “jugalbandi” that was beautifully executed by the award-winning interior designer, Summesh Menon and Chef Lovjeet Singh. While Summesh Menon was showcasing his works and having an interactive session with the design fraternity of Mangalore, Chef Lovjeet Singh had a hands-on cooking session and live demonstration of Siemens equipment with the guests. The event was concluded with an informative presentation by the Siemens Home Appliances Group showcasing their state-of-the-art products.

The event was first-of-its-kind in Mangalore and all the guests present appreciated the event calling it a memorable one and one that is totally different from all the design events conducted in Mangalore. Moreover, the event was well-appreciated by the National Executive Committee members of the IIID.

Bhatkal: The Karnataka unit of the All India Ideal Teachers Association (AIITA) has welcomed the Karnataka government’s decision to strictly ban school children from dancing to obscene songs during educational and cultural programmes in government, aided, and private schools across the state.

AIITA Karnataka State President M. R. Manvi congratulated the government for taking what he termed an important step to preserve the sanctity of education.

“Such decisions to safeguard the dignity of school children and uphold the values of education are the need of the hour. This rule should not be limited to government schools alone but must be strictly implemented in all private educational institutions as well,” he said.

He further urged the government to address other concerns within school programmes.

“The government should not only prohibit obscene dances in the name of school anniversaries, but also ensure that plays and dialogues that incite religious hatred are avoided. Schools should be centres of harmony, not platforms for spreading hatred,” he added.

According to a recent circular issued by the Department of School Education and Literacy, obscene dances are adversely affecting the mental health and moral values of students.

In this regard, schools have been advised to use songs that promote nationalism, positive thinking, the greatness of Kannada culture, and value-based traditions instead of inappropriate content during programmes.
The circular also emphasises that students should be dressed in decent attire.

AIITA also backed the department’s warning that disciplinary action would be taken against head teachers if such guidelines are violated. The association has further demanded that district Deputy Directors of Public Instruction strictly monitor the implementation of these rules.
