Mangaluru: Iqra Arabic School in Mangaluru marked the Independence Day with a spirited celebration held on its campus. The event, rich in patriotism, brought together students and distinguished guests to honor the country's freedom while emphasizing the importance of diversity and social responsibility.
The event underscored the belief that diversity is the backbone of the nation's strength, a sentiment upheld for many years. The occasion served as a platform to advocate for the assimilation of positive attributes from various individuals, encouraging attendees not to succumb to misconceptions and to foster the capacity to interact harmoniously with all members of society. Dr. Abdul Majeed, a senior consultant surgeon, and the Chief Guest of the event highlighted this crucial aspect in his address.
"Developing ourselves to connect with people from all walks of life is our responsibility towards our fellow citizens," Dr. Abdul Majeed stated, emphasizing the significance of unity and understanding among diverse communities.
While commemorating Independence Day, the event also centered on the theme of individual social responsibility. Dr. Vishwanath, the Head of Surgical Oncology at AJ Hospital, emphasized the importance of being responsible citizens and paying homage to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.
The event also featured the presence of Riaz Abdul Khader Bawa, the Chairman and Managing Director of Bawa Fish Meal and Oil Co, who extended his wishes for the students' promising futures.

Kannur (Kerala) (PTI): The Railway Protection Force on Thursday booked two youngsters for briefly stopping a long-distance train in this district after they flashed a red light to shoot social media reels.
According to the police, the incident took place around 1.50 am, shortly after the Ernakulam–Pune Express left Thalassery railway station.
On seeing the red light ahead, the loco pilot slowed down and stopped the train as a safety measure.
Based on the pilot's alert, the RPF traced the source of the light and detained two youngsters from the area. Their arrests were recorded and they were released on bail, a railway official said.
They are reportedly Plus Two students and are around 18 years old, the official added.
A mobile phone used to record the video was seized during the inquiry, the police said.
