Belthangady: Stressing on the second line of leadership in the community, the former Union Minister B Janardhana Poojary on Sunday urged the people of the Billava Community to encourage and promote younger politicians for the upcoming Assembly Elections.
Poojary, who inaugurated the ‘Billava Janapada Sammelana GT’ organized by Sri Guru Narayanaswamy Seva Sangha, Belthangady, at the Gurudeva College in Belthangady on Sunday, asked the seniors to also provide opportunity to younger members of the community.
“Senior Billava leaders like Vasantha Bangera had been undertaking a lot of progressive work in Belthangady. Now, younger Billavas like Padmaraj, Rakshith Shivaram and Sampath Suvarna should get a chance in the current elections,” advised the former minister.
Former legislator K Vasantha Bangera and President of Sri Guru Narayanaswamy Seva Sangha Chidananda Poojary were among the dignitaries present during the event.

Bengaluru (PTI): Seven people, including three children, were killed when the compound wall of a hospital collapsed here on Wednesday, police said.
The incident occurred in the Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital, they added.
When the heavy rains, coupled with strong winds, battered the area, the seven victims were taking shelter near the wall, which suddenly came down crashing, police further said. All seven people were killed on the spot, they added.
According to police sources, the victims were street vendors.
Police and emergency services personnel rushed to the spot with an earthmover to bring out the bodies from the debris with the help of residents.
