Jeppu Mahakalipaddu: Residents stage protest demanding railway under bridge construction
Mangaluru: A group of residents staged a protest demanding the construction of a railway under bridge at Jeppu Mahakalipaddu under the leadership of Tulunada Rakshana Vedike (Taruve), Nirmal Nagar Civic Welfare Committee and various other organizations on Saturday morning near the railway gate.
Addressing the protesters, Railway Consumer Advisory Committee member Ahmed Bava Bajal, said there had been protests since 1986 demanding a railway under bridge near Mahakalipaddu. But residents here did not get any fruitful result. Therefore, the concerned departments must come forward and provide immediate relief to the problems of locals by giving justice.
The divisional railway has sanctioned Rs. 10 crore to construct a Mahakalipaddu railway under bridge. The corporation must immediately release its part of the fund. Otherwise, a massive protest would be staged in front of the corporation, Ahmed Bava warned.
Yogish Shetty Jeppu, Siraj Adkare, Prashant, Anand Ameen Adyar, Ravi Shetty, Jyotika Jain, Ashok, and other leaders spoke at the occasion.

Trump threatens China with 50% tariffs if it sends arms to Iran
Washington (AP): The US president said his threat to impose 50% tariffs on goods from countries that sold weapons to Iran was aimed at China.
Trump told Fox News' “Sunday Morning Futures” that has heard reports of China giving anti-aircraft “shoulder missiles” to Iran. He played down the possibility of China supplying weapons to Iran, but said their goods would be taxed if they did.
“I doubt they would do that, because I have a relationship, and I think they wouldn't do that, but maybe they did a little bit at the beginning,” Trump said. “But if we catch them doing that, they get a 50% tariff.”
