Udupi :Speaking at a cadre training program organized by the Karkala Block Congress in Pattonji Katte, Jayaprakash Hegde, the Congress candidate for the Udupi Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency, emphasized the Kantaraju report's objective of providing social justice to the underprivileged within the democratic system.
He highlighted the report's aim to empower backward classes through a caste census of economic, social, and educational backgrounds.
Hegde expressed confidence in the report's full implementation under Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's government, expecting success in the Lok Sabha elections.
Udayakumar Shetty, a Congress leader and former election candidate for the Vidhan Sabha constituency, praised the government's five guarantees, which he believes have empowered the economically weaker sections. He criticized the BJP's skepticism regarding these guarantees, stating that they have actually increased the flow of money in the state. Shetty emphasized the importance of the Congress candidate, Jayaprakash Hegde's victory for the benefit of the masses.
Bipinachandrapal Nakre, a District Congress Spokesperson, highlighted the State Bank of India's revelations regarding the BJP's alleged attempts to consolidate power through election bonds, which he believes undermines democratic principles. He stressed the need for Congress administration for clean and effective governance at the center.
The event also saw speeches by retired Municipal Commissioner Gopalakrishna Shetty, Block Congress president Sadashiva Devadiga, and other local leaders. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Bloc Congress Spokesperson Shubhada Rao.

Lucknow (PTI): Kolkata Knight Riders edged Lucknow Super Giants via Super Overs in a battle between two bottom-placed teams in the IPL, here on Sunday.
Chasing a modest 156, LSG suffered a batting collapse and managed to tie the contest and take it to Super Over with No. 9 Mohammed Shami striking a last-ball six against a wayward Kartik Tyagi, who leaked 16 runs in the final over.
But Sunil Narine bowled a stunning Super Over conceding just one run and taking two wickets to give KKR an easy target.
Rinku Singh then finished the chase with a boundary off first ball from Prince Yadav.
Earlier the KKR were in deep trouble with 93/7 in 15 overs but Rinku smashed a sensational 83 not out from 51 balls including four sixes in a row in the final over to lift them to 155/7.
Cameron Green (34) was the only other batter to reach double-digit scores as KKR suffered a familiar batting meltdown with Mohsin taking his maiden fifer.
In reply, LSG continued their dismal show with the bat to succumb to their fifth loss in a row.
