Karkala: In an alleged case of police atrocity, a Congress activist from Karkala has been hospitalized after he was reportedly assaulted by police officers in Karkala.

According to the reports, Radhakrishna Nayak, a Congress worker had filed a police complaint in August last year stating that a fake Facebook account was created using his credentials and a derogatory post against the Indian Army was made through the account.

Then an employee of a private firm in Bengaluru, Radhakrishna had filed police complaint on 26-8-2020. Following the procedure and request from the police, he had filed another complaint in this regard on 4-9-2020. Radhakrishna’s statement was also recorded at Gangamma Gudi Police Station where the complaint was filed.

Radhakrishna had then lost his job in Bengaluru and had returned to his native Karkala. In April 2021 he also suffered a cardiac arrest and was ailing.

Radhakrishna’s family sources alleged that he received a call from Karkala Police Station few days back after which he visited the police station for three days but was unable to meet the SHO. On Thursday, the cops allegedly assaulted Radhakrishna after which he was taken to a hospital in Manipal where his health is critical, family sources said.

Former Karnataka CM and Congress senior leader Siddaramaiah and DYFI State President Muneer Katipalla took to their respective social media accounts to condemn the incident and sought action against guilty.
