Kodi: The 76th Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Bearys Group of Institutions. The chief guest, Rakesh. S. Soans, Co-founder and President of F.S.L. India, a technology consultant, experienced educationist, and wildlife conservationist, hoisted the national flag. In his address, he highlighted the significance of following the Constitution's principles to grow into responsible citizens. He also shared valuable insights on environmental conservation, drawing from his own experiences.

Syed Mohamed Beary, the chairman and managing trustee of the Bearys Group of Institutions, in his inaugural address stated that, "The only book that all Indians can accept and that embodies equality is the Indian Constitution. All religions, like lamps, provide their light. Every individual must remember the hard work, sacrifice, and relentless efforts of Dr. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution. Similarly, one must live with equality, love, trust, and brotherhood.”

A solemn tribute was paid to the martyrs, especially Anoop Poojari, with a moment of silence, and his mother, Chandu Poojari, was honoured with condolences. The students' performance during the programme added to the spirit of unity.

Later, the Bearys Shiksha Suraksha Foundation awarded scholarships to deserving students of Bearys Group of Institutions, sponsored by the Bearys Group.

The event was presided over by Haji K.M. Abdul Rehman Beary, President of Bearys Group of Institutions. The gathering included members of the Bearys Group Trust, Dr. Asif Beary, HKM Beary Kannada Aided High School alumnus Ganesh Poojari, Senior VP of Business Development & Liaison at Lodha Group, Mumbai, along with heads of sister organisations of Bearys group, school development and advisory board members, local dignitaries, and parents.

The programme was anchored by Sandeep Shetty, Head of the Kannada Department, with the educational director, Dr. Poornima T., presenting the brief introduction of the chief guest.

Bengaluru: Leader of Opposition in the Assembly R. Ashoka has accused the Congress government of using the hijab issue to placate what he described as discontent among minority voters after the Davanagere by-election.
In a post on X on Wednesday, Ashoka alleged that the state government, instead of addressing issues such as price rise, corruption, farmers’ distress and law and order, was attempting to retain its minority vote base by reviving the hijab issue.
Referring to the 2022 dress code introduced by the BJP government, which prohibited hijab in schools and colleges, Ashoka said the Karnataka High Court had upheld the policy and emphasised the importance of discipline in educational institutions.
He questioned the Congress government’s move to revisit the issue and asked whether setting aside the court-backed policy to benefit one community could be described as secularism.
Ashoka further alleged that while the government was willing to permit hijab, it continued to prohibit saffron shawls.
He accused the government of dividing students on religious lines rather than treating schools and colleges as spaces of equality.
Drawing a comparison with Mamata Banerjee’s government in West Bengal, Ashoka claimed that excessive appeasement politics had harmed the state and warned that the Congress in Karnataka could face a similar political response.
He said voters in Karnataka would teach the Congress a lesson for what he termed “vote-bank politics” and for compromising constitutional and judicial principles.
