Belthangady: A leopard attack on a cow in Nerthane village, Dharmasthala, has left residents in fear for their safety. The incident occurred in the shed near the owner's house and was discovered on Tuesday morning.
The cow's owner, Thresamma PK, is an Asha worker and micro farmer who also works in animal husbandry. Her home is located close to the jungle, which has seen several incidents of leopard and elephant attacks in recent times.
The villagers are concerned about the safety of their crops and their own lives, especially after a similar incident in Dumbettu village of Mundaje, where a leopard killed dogs. As Dumbettu is situated near Nerthane, locals suspect that the same leopard is responsible for both attacks.
Residents are living in constant fear of wild animals, unable to leave their homes at night or before dawn due to fear.
