Mangaluru, May 14: Food Minister UT Khader said that a letter would be written to the Election Commission on lapses prevailed in the existing election system as there was a need to make it more transparent.

Speaking to reporters here on Monday, Khader said that it was not fair to allow the voters to vote based on black and white slips without having identity cards or any other identity cards. It is very difficult to identify the person by just seeing the black and white voter slip which even does not have house numbers. This would pave way for fake voting. The Elecction Commission has even failed to provide those voter slips to the voters. The BLOs were given the responsibility of reaching the voters slips to the voters. But in many places, the BLOs have handed over the voter slips to some leaders of political parties. There is a possibility of misusing those voter slips. As promised, the Commission hass even failed to provide wheel chairs to the needy. So, during Lok Sabha election, the Commission should rectify these lapses, he said.

“We should not forget that the Election Commission has done good works this time. It has allowed the voter to include his or her name till the end”, he said.

The Congress would get majority in this election  and the party high command would decide the chief minister candidate. All leaders including Siddaramaiah, Dr G Parameshwar, Mallikarjuna Kharge and others were united. Many people have expressed their suspicion on programmes implemented by Siddaramaiah government. But Siddaramaiah has completed his full five years term successfully, he said.

The Congress would win all the eight constituencies in the district, he said, but clarified that opponent was not important for Congress.
