Mangaluru: A family in Mangaluru recently experienced a frustrating episode of poor service with LG's customer service, alleging not only poor service but also a blatant lack of communication of the company. The ordeal of the family unfolded on December 13th when their refrigerator which they had purchased less than two years ago, stopped working, prompting them to seek assistance from the LG service centre.
Upon filing a complaint, the family stated the service centre responded, diagnosing a compressor malfunction. The compressor was replaced within a week. However, to the dismay of the family, the refrigerator reportedly malfunctioned again on the same day. A subsequent complaint revealed a different issue with a malfunctioning board, a problem that was not initially addressed by the service centre, the family told Vartha Bharati.
Frustrated by the lack of response from the service centre, the family reportedly visited the customer care centre and spoke to customer service executive, who advised them to contact another senior executive dealing with customer grievances at LG.
The family further added the senior executive reportedly assured the family that the repair would be covered under guarantee, and no payment would be necessary. He also instructed the service centre to address the issue and replace the faulty board.
However, despite assurances from the senior executive, the service centre failed to respond for two days. Desperate for resolution, the family approached the service centre again, only to be told that there was no record of their previous complaint, and they would have to make a payment for the repair, the family has alleged.
In a further blow to customer satisfaction, attempts to contact both the customer service executives proved futile. Calls made over the course of 4-5 days went unanswered, exacerbating the family's frustration and sense of abandonment by the very company that should be ensuring their satisfaction, the family said.
The lack of responsiveness and convenience provided to the customers is evident, leaving them dissatisfied with the services received. The family emphasizes that their frustration is not with the service centre itself but with the recurrent malfunctions in their refrigerator, raising concerns about the overall quality of LG products.
Expressing their dissatisfaction, the family stated, "This is truly a distrust and lack of support from your chief customer executives who are not concerned about any customer complaints by not responding to our calls."
In response to Vartha Bharati's efforts to seek clarification, one of the key customer service executives dealing with the family’s case, replied stating he was out of the country until next week. However, no response was received from other executives.
The affected family has now threatened to stage a public protest by taking their malfunctioning refrigerator to an LG outlet and dumping it there as an act of frustration and disappointment if the issue is not promptly addressed.

Melbourne (PTI): Australia skipper Pat Cummins' chances of playing at next year's T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka are "quite grey at the moment" as he battles a back stress issue that has affected his participation in the ongoing Ashes series against England.
Cummins returned to play the third Ashes Test in Adelaide after missing the opening two matches, picking up six wickets to help Australia clinch the series 3-0.
However, the Australian Test and ODI skipper will take no further part in the series and even his participation at the T20 World Cup is also uncertain. All-rounder Mitchell Marsh is Australia's T20I captain.
"Looking forward to the World Cup, whether he will be there or not, I can't really say. It's quite grey at the moment. We're hopeful," head coach Andrew McDonald was quoted as saying by 'ESPNCricinfo'.
The fast bowler was diagnosed with a lumbar stress reaction during Australia's tour of the West Indies in July. He underwent rehabilitation before being cleared for a carefully managed return in Adelaide.
"He's pulled up fine. He won't play any part in the rest of the series and that was a discussion that we had a long time out around his return," McDonald said.
"We were taking on some risk and people that reported on that would understand the risk associated with that rebuild. We've now won the series and that was the goal.
"So, to position him for further risk and jeopardise him long-term is not something that we want to do and Pat's really comfortable with that," he added.
The T20 World Cup is scheduled to begin on February 7 across India and Sri Lanka with the summit clash set for March 8.
Australia's first match is on February 11 against Ireland at Colombo. Although Cummins captains the Test and ODI teams, all-rounder Mitch Marsh leads Australia in the shortest format.
