“Life becomes perfect only through education,” Dr. HS Ballal at Kanachur institute graduation day
Mangaluru: “Education is a continuous process and only education can make our life perfect. Medical education is a highly demanding field in the current era and the responsibilities of medical graduates are great and thus they have to contribute to the society with human values,” said Pro Chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Dr. HS Ballal speaking at the third graduation day ceremony of the Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences on Saturday.
Dr. HS Ballal who graced as the Chief Guest, extended his wishes and congratulations to the students, he said, “Achievements realised between the period of birth and death, and living cooperatively with others are greatest achievements.”
He further pointed out that for a doctor, patient's care was of utmost concern than earning money, brightening others lives. “One should never forget his/her parents sacrifices throught life,” he added.
Commeding Founder, Chairman of the institute, Ballal said that, “ There is no greater gift than education. Imparting knowledge is a virtuous act and Dr. Haji UK Monu is doing a great job by imparting knowledge by building an educational institution. His (Dr. Haji UK Monu) name will remain forever in the society.”
Dr. Haji UK Monu, Chairman of the institution highlighted that sacrifices of the educational institution and of the parents is important for the provision of higher education. Addressing the students he further stated that now by getting higher education in the medical field your responsibilities have increased. He also appealed to the students not to forget their roots ( i.e. Country, language and culture).
Meanwhile, Syndicate Member of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Dr. UT Ifthikar Fareed in his address urged the students to respect their parents for encouraging them (students) to pursue education. He also said, “Due to efforts to several people, many students of the institute have been able to get good ranks including first place in the state. The name of the institute would further grow with the efforts of the Chairman.”
Dean of the Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences, Dr. UP Ratnakar, Zohra Monu, Muhammed Ismail of Kanachur Institute, Heads of various departments of Kanachur Medical College, Dr. Shamima, Prof. Muhammad Suhail, Dr. Monish Saldhana and Medical Superintendent Dr. Harish Shetty and others were present.
Abdul Rahiman, Director of Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences, Deralkatte welcomed the gathering. Dean Dr. U.P. Ratnakar presented the vote of thanks. Pratiksha Shetty, Rashmi D’souza, Dr. Lukman, Dr. Bibi Amina presented the program.
Meanwhile, the Dr. Haji U.K. Monu Foundation Gold Medal was presented to Dr. Madhura KI, a student of Kanachur Medical College in 2018 batch, who among the fifty medical colleges under Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru, achieved first rank gold medal in the state. Alongside, other top ranked students were also honored on the same occasion.
Expressing her gratitude, Dr. Madhura said that she was pursuing Engineering and got an opportunity to study in Kanachur institute under the government quota. “ I utilized the opportunity through hard work. The experience I gained in this institute is unique. I am grateful to my parents and Kanachur educational institute who are responsible for my success".

BJP workers allegedly attack children during Christmas carol roadshow in Kerala’s Palakkad: Reports
Palakkad: A group of children celebrating Christmas through a carol roadshow was allegedly attacked by BJP workers in Kerala’s Palakkad district on Sunday night.
According to local reports, the incident occurred in Pudussery area of Palakkad, where over 25 children, mostly aged around 13, were moving from house to house singing Christmas carols. Reports state that a BJP worker identified as Ashwin Raj, along with others, allegedly assaulted the children and vandalised their musical equipment.
According to the police and eyewitness accounts, the children were using a band set that belonged to a local CPI(M) office, which had the party’s name written on it.
Allegedly objecting to this, the accused and his associates reportedly lured the children on the pretext of offering them money and then assaulted them. The band set used by the children was also smashed.

The Town Police have arrested Ashwin Raj, a local BJP worker who has been named as the prime accused in the case. Efforts are underway to trace and arrest the remaining accused who fled the scene.
Speaking to the media, one of the injured children said, “We were using the band just for fun. When they saw that it had CPM written on it, they took us aside and beat us.”
"We had given the band set that was in our office out of love when the children asked for it. The fact that these young children, who do not know the intricacies of politics, were attacked shows the criminal mentality of the BJP workers," local CPIM leaders expressed outrage.
A police officer told PTI that the arrested accused is already booked under the Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act (KAAPA).
The sections invoked include Section 192 (provocation with intent to cause a riot), Section 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), and Section 110 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), police added.
