Udupi: Udupi district Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the Udupi District Disaster Management Authority Dr. K. Vidyakumari on Monday in a release warned the people of the district of venturing into the ocean following cyclone warnings.
According to a report from the Indian Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of a storm in the Arabian Sea due to a drop in air pressure, the release added.
As a result of the formation of the low pressure area, the height of sea waves is expected to increase, and wind speeds may reach upto 40-45 to 55 km per hour, making the sea turbulent. In light of this, the public, tourists, children, locals, and the fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along the coast for the next four days, until October 20.
The DC also in the release stated that walking and playing on the beach are also prohibited during this period.
