Bhatkal: Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem on Friday called a press conference at its office and cleared its stance over the recent resolution passed against fielding Muslim candidate from the Bhatkal-Honnavar Assembly Constituency in the upcoming Karnataka Elections.

Speaking at the press conference Tanzeem’s Political Panel’s convener Advocate Imran Lanka said that the resolution passed on March 20 during the meeting of collective jamaats of the region was against fielding a Muslim candidate and not against supporting a Muslim candidate.

“We proposed fielding a Muslim candidate from Tanzeem, the proposal was rejected in the meeting with regional Jamaats. It doesn’t mean we made a resolution against supporting a Muslim candidate. We can support a secular candidate whether he is a Hindu or Muslim. We will take a call on that later when election dates are announced,” Imran stated.

He was accompanied by the Vice Convener of the political panel and president of the Bhatkal Muslim Youth Federation Moulana Azeez ur Rahman Nadvi.

With this, JD(s) candidate and Tanzeem President, Inayathullah Shabandri is once again in the election fray ahead of the elections and people are now hoping he would contest the coming assembly election and would seek support from Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem.
