Man in Mangaluru convicted of raping minor step-daughter sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment
Mangaluru: The District Additional and Sessions Court has sentenced a man to 20 years imprisonment for sexual abuse of his step-daughter who is a minor.
The convict, identified as Ashwath, was accused of raping his underage step-daughter on July 26, 2022, when his wife had gone to her parents’ home for delivery. A case had been registered under POCSO Act at against him the Mangaluru Women Police Station. Ashwath was also accused of threatening to kill his step-daughter if she spoke about the matter to others.
A charge-sheet was submitted to the District Additional and Sessions FTSC II (POCSO) Court, following police investigation of the case. After a hearing of the case, the court sentenced Ashwath to 20 years of jail.

Rajsthan Royals beat Punjab Kings by 6 wickets
Mullanpur (PTI): Rajasthan Royals defeated Punjab Kings by six wickets in their Indian Premier League match here on Tuesday.
Invited to bat, opener Prabhsimran Singh scored 59 up front while Marcus Stoinis provided the final flourish with an unbeaten 62 off 22 balls as Punjab Kings posted 222 for 4.
The Royals then put up a collective batting effort to overhaul the target with four balls to spare.
Earlier, leg spinner Yash Punja picked up two wickets for the visitors.
