Gurupur: A 34-year-old staff member of the Gurpura Service Co-operative Agricultural Bank in Vamanjoor was killed after a collision with a private bus outside the bank branch on Thursday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Santhosh Kumar, a resident of Polali Kariyangala. He is survived by his wife, two-year-old child, mother, two brothers and a sister.

Santhosh, who was riding to office on Thursday morning, slowed down near the office building, as there were humps, when a private bus traveling from Moodbidri to Mangaluru rammed his motorbike from behind.

The rider, who fell off the bike and was grievously injured, was immediately taken to the Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru. He was later being taken to AJ Hospital for further treatment, but is learned to have died on the way.

A case has been filed by the Bajpe Police officers, who also visited the accident spot during investigation.

Mullanpur (PTI): Rajasthan Royals defeated Punjab Kings by six wickets in their Indian Premier League match here on Tuesday.

Invited to bat, opener Prabhsimran Singh scored 59 up front while Marcus Stoinis provided the final flourish with an unbeaten 62 off 22 balls as Punjab Kings posted 222 for 4.

The Royals then put up a collective batting effort to overhaul the target with four balls to spare.

Earlier, leg spinner Yash Punja picked up two wickets for the visitors.
