Mangaluru: Highland Islamic Forum (HIF) on Sunday organised its 9th blood donation camp in association with KMC blood bank. The event was coordinated by HIF Medical Cell and was organised at at HECC near Unity Hospital, Vaslane in Mangaluru.
Chief Guest of the event Moulana Altaf, Imam, Masjid-ul-Ehsaan inaugurated the camp with recitation of verses from Holy Quran. Other guests at the inaugural event included Abdul Razzaq, Trustee HECC, Ar. Ramnath Nayak, Principal, Indian Design School, Nazim SS, Ex-President HIF and Dr. KB Vatsala, MD, Pathology, Asst. Prof KMC.
Mohammed Rizwan welcomed the guests and donors and delivered keynote address. Dr. Vatsala briefed about the importance of blood donation and elaborated on how it helps people save lives of others.
During the inaugural event, five donors Mohammed Arif, reporter Vijay Karnataka, Purshotam Gatty, Senior Technician AK Group, Advocate Tousif Ahmed, Shaaz Ahmed AK and Brindavan for donating blood at all the nine blood donation camps organised by HIF.
Speaking to Varthabharati, Nazim AK informed that the collected blood units will be kept at KMC Blood Bank and that people can get in touch with HIF when they need blood units. He added that people can directly visit the HIF office in Masjid-ul-Ehsaan premises or they can also contact HIF office on +916366296133
The inaugural ceremony concluded with vote of thanks by Shaaz Ahmed AK. Special arrangements were also made for ladies to donate blood. The blood donation camp will conclude at 1.pm on Sunday.

Bengaluru (PTI): The Karnataka School Education Department has issued a circular strictly prohibiting children from being made to dance to obscene songs in educational and cultural programmes.
It stated that such dances would negatively impact students' mental health and moral values. It will create indiscipline and harm the sanctity of education.
"All the Deputy Directors (Administration) of the state's School Education Department have been asked to take strict measures to prevent children or students from dancing to obscene songs in all government, aided and unaided schools in the state," the office of the commissioner of the School Education Department said in a recent circular.
"If it is found that children are being made to dance to obscene songs, appropriate action will be taken against the headmaster or management of such school," it added.
The department also listed certain measures in this regard, which include: strictly prohibiting children from being made to dance to obscene songs during educational and cultural programmes; selecting songs that are inspiring, positive, instilling national pride in children and reflecting the greatness, dignity, values, culture, and morality of the state.
Stating that the school headmaster and management are responsible for selecting songs and dances for cultural programmes, it said, they should also ensure that students wear decent clothes in dance or cultural programmes.
