Mangaluru, Feb 5: A team of officials led by City Corporation Commissioner Muhammad Nazeer locked the shops which violated norms without paying the commercial tax, on Tuesday.

During the raid, the officials served notices to such shops along with warning. Many shops at Rama Bhavana Complex at Kodialbail, Attavara, Casa Ground and other places were raided and it was came to know that some shops were not taken trade licences.

The officials also found that some flats also evaded water tax and the Commissioner has taken it seriously, sources said.

Raid on every week

The city corporation will conduct raids on every week in the city on trade licence violation and no one could escape from it. Action would be taken against those who do business without trade licence, the Commissioner said.

One week deadline to pay pending tax

Action would be taken against the violators. Those who have not renewed their trade licences should pay their tax. Notices were already served to many shops which have not paid their taxes. The shops which were served notices should pay their tax dues within a week. Otherwise, legal action would be taken against them, the Commissioner said.

New Delhi (PTI): Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 26.2 degrees Celsius on Sunday, 2.4 notches below the seasonal average, according to the India Meteorological Department.

The weather department has forecast partly cloudy sky with an orange alert for heatwave-like conditions at isolated places by the evening.

The maximum temperature is expected to reach around 44 degrees Celsius on Sunday, the IMD said.

The relative humidity in the capital was recorded at 43 per cent at 8.30 am.

The air quality was 'poor' at 9 am, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 223, Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data showed.

According to the CPCB, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 'severe'.
