Bajpe: The body of a 20-year-old youth, Sumith, who went missing while swimming in the River Phalguni (Gurupura) near Maravuru, was recovered on Tuesday morning.
Sumith, a resident of Kottara Chowki in Mangaluru, had gone to the river with three friends for a swim on Sunday when the tragic incident occurred.

According to the police, Sumith and his friend Anish, a resident of Urwa Stores, were swept away by the river’s current. Anish’s body was found on Monday, while the search for Sumith continued for another day. Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) were involved in the search operation and recovered Sumith’s body on Tuesday.
The other two friends, Arun and Deekshit, both residents of Kodikal, managed to escape the river’s dangerous waters and are reported to be safe.

Gangavathi, Koppal: A 34-year-old tourist from Kerala was found dead in a lake near Sanapur in Gangavathi taluk on Friday. The police have identified the deceased as Cyril Jose.
According to the police, Jose was staying at Basapur and had gone out on December 17 to explore nearby places. When he failed to return, a missing complaint was lodged the next day. A search operation was launched following the complaint.

After two days of efforts, Jose’s body was recovered floating in Sanapur lake. Preliminary findings suggest that he drowned, though the exact circumstances are yet to be ascertained, as reported by Deccan Herald.
