Mangaluru: FIR against Lokayukta SPP Rajesh over allegations of rape attempt on law student
Mangaluru: The Mangaluru Lokayukta Division’s Special Public Prosecutor K. S. N Rajesh has been reportedly accused of attempting rape against a female law student. The victimized law student has filed an FIR in this regard at the Pandeshwar Women’s Police station, it is learned.
The 20-year-old victim, who is a law student from Mangaluru, had joined advocate K. S. N. Rajesh’s Karangalpady office for training on August 8. Amid this, Rajesh had tried to persuade the young woman to engage in physical relations with him. In the complaint, the victim has accused that Rajesh had called her into his chamber on September 25 and behaved indecently towards her and later attempted to rape her, it is learned.
K S N Rajesh had been working as the Special Government Prosecutor for the past several years and was in charge of handling corruption cases that were registered in the Lokayukta. He had been reportedly appointed as the government-assigned prosecutor to argue in favour of the victims of corruption in cases registered with the Lokayukta. Because of this, Rajesh had earned a respectable place in Mangaluru.
An audio recording of the alleged phone conversation between the law student and Rajesh had surfaced in the public sphere two days ago. In the interaction, he is heard persuading her to come to the office and assuring her of not repeating previous actions. He is also heard pleading and requesting her to leave the matter and end it right there, it is learned.

Drug peddler's property worth Rs 1 crore attached in Srinagar
Srinagar (PTI): Property worth Rs 1 crore belonging to a notorious drug peddler was on Saturday attached in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar, police said.
A double-storey house on eight marlas of land situated at Wantpora Eidgah, belonging to Basit Bilal Dar, a notorious drug peddler, valued at approximately Rs 1 crore, a police spokesperson said.
He said Dar is involved in two cases registered under various sections of the NDPS Act.
During investigation, it was established that the accused had acquired the said property through illicit proceeds generated from drug trafficking activities, the spokesperson said.
Consequently, the property was attached under the provisions of the NDPS Act. The attachment proceedings were conducted in the presence of the two independent witnesses, strictly in accordance with the prescribed legal procedures, he said.
As per the attachment order, the owner has been restrained from selling, leasing, transferring, altering, or creating any third-party interest in the property till further orders, the spokesperson added.
