Mangaluru: Fishers protest against light fishing-bull troll fishing begins
Mangaluru, Jan 31: Seeking ban against light fishing and bull troll fishing, traditional fishers have begun a protest today morning.
The protest, under the aegis of the Mangalore Troll-boat Fishermen's Association, began in front of the office of Deputy Director of the Fisheries Department at Mangaluru port.
"Fishing using lights and bull troll is voilation of the rules. The officers concerned must take special measures to deal with this problem," they urged.
Association president Nitin Kumar, vice president Abbas Haji, general secretary Rajesh Ullal, treasurer Ibrahim Bengare, secretary Sandeep and others were present.

Trump says suspect was armed with multiple weapons at WH correspondents' dinner
Washington (PTI): President Donald Trump is addressing reporters at the White House after he and other top leaders of the United States were evacuated from an annual dinner of White House correspondents on Saturday night after a shooting incident outside the ballroom.
Trump said the suspect was armed with multiple weapons before stopped by Secret Service. One officer was shot, but he was protected by a bulletproof vest.
“He was shot from very close distance with a very powerful gun, and the vest did the job,” Trump said.
