Mangaluru: Karnataka State Bar Council on Friday suspended Advocate Rajesh KSN of Mangaluru from its membership as the latter is facing serious charges of sexual harassment of a law student who had approached him for an internship.

Two cases have been registered against Rajesh at Pandeshwar Police Station in Mangaluru and investigations are underway.

A committee of Bar Council led by Srinivas Babu has issued the order of Rajesh’s membership suspension from the council until further orders.

Rajesh had registered in Karnataka Bar Council in 2001 with the registration number (Kar/1464/2001). Earlier this week, a law city pressed charges of sexual harassment against Rajesh alleging that she had approached Rajesh for an internship following which she was subjected to sexual harassment by the senior advocate.

Under the suspension, Rajesh will not be allowed to appear before the court as a lawyer in any court. 

According to the reports, Rajesh has applied for anticipatory bail in the case.

Tiruchirapalli (PTI): A campaign office of the actor Vijay-led TVK was allegedly torched by unidentified miscreants in Kamanayakkanpalayam village near Srirangam in the early hours of Friday, police said.

According to the police, the damage is minimal. Fire had engulfed the thatched roof providing shade at the entrance of the building that served as the party’s election office for the Srirangam constituency.

While on social media, a CCTV footage of two unidentified men fleeing on motorbike is being circulated as the culprits, police said the video footage is yet to be verified.

Based on a complaint lodged by TVK, the Pettaivaithalai Police have registered a case and initiated a search for the perpetrators.
