Mangaluru City Police have registered a case against Mahesh Vikram Hegde for posting a provocative message on Facebook under the name "POST CARD".
In his post, he wrote: "Honourable Chief Minister, just once, dare to send a bulldozer into the mosque of those who pelted stones at the Ganesh procession. After that, such incidents will never be repeated anywhere in the state."
Based on this, Moodbidri Police registered a case under CrPC No. 143/2025, Section 353(2) of BNS. After launching an investigation, Moodbidri Police traced and detained him in Bengaluru.
He was produced before the CJ and KMFC Court in Moodbidri on September 12, 2025. The court has remanded Mahesh Vikram Hegde to judicial custody.

Latur (PTI): A minor girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped by an 18-year-old man in Latur, leading to the arrest of the main accused and owners of two cafes where the crime occurred on December 4, police said on Saturday.
Police traced the girl within hours of registering the complaint. The accused, identified as Rihan Gulab Shaikh, was arrested based on the girl's complaint. Two others are owners of two cafes where the crime occurred, police said.
Police registered a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), POCSO Act, and the Prevention of Atrocities Act, an official said.
