Bihar: One candidate that will draw a lot of focus in this Lok Sabha election is former JNU student leader Kanhaiya Kumar, who is contesting on CPI ticket from Bihar Begusarai constituency. His statements, speeches and videos are sought after especially in the youth community on social media. On the other hand he has also faced lot of flak and criticism for his anti-BJP stands.

A businessman from Mangaluru Abdul Hameed Pachche and his friend Nawaz Jeppu, inspired by Kanhaiya Kumar reached Bihar’s Begusarai and met Kanhaiya Kumar to wish him luck for his election campaign.

“On Sunday, Kanhiaya returned home at 3. am after campaigning and again left home at 6. am for campaigning. We met him at 7.30 am on Monday, about 60 Kilometers away from his home. He was too busy with his campaigning, but when we told him that we have come all the way from Mangaluru, he took out a few minutes and spoke with us. He is receiving good response from the people there. People are coming from everywhere on their own expenses to be part of his election campaign” Abdul Hameed told Vartha Bharati.

He also added that they gifted Cashew nuts to Kanhaiya and wished him good luck for his election campaign and the results.

“We also shared a report of Kanhaiya Kumar’s interview that was published in your portal” Hameed told Vartha Bharati.

Chandigarh (PTI): The Enforcement Directorate on Monday conducted searches at multiple locations in Punjab as part of a money laundering probe against former state police DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar and entities linked to him, officials said.

They said about 11 premises in Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Patiala, Nabha and Jalandhar linked to the accused, his associates and suspected benamidars (the owner in whose name a benami property is held) are being covered under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) probe stems from a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) case registered against Bhullar on allegations that he sought illegal gratification through a middleman for settlement of a criminal case, along with detection of assets disproportionate to known sources of income.

The searches aim to trace further proceeds of the alleged crime, identify benami assets and gather evidence related to money laundering, ED officials said.

Bhullar, who was serving as the deputy inspector general (DIG) of police (Ropar Range), was arrested by the CBI in October 2025 after a scrap dealer alleged that bribe was demanded from him through an intermediary to settle a case.
