Mangaluru: The Mangalore City Police Commissioner, Anupam Agarwal, has assured the public that the police are taking the case of a young woman assaulted at a city hotel very seriously. The incident, which took place on August 25, reportedly stemmed from a dispute over parking and escalated into an assault.
According to reports, the young woman was harassed and physically assaulted by a group of youths near a hotel in the Lalbagh area of Mangaluru. The victim later shared her ordeal on social media, where the video quickly went viral. In her account, she alleged that despite reporting the incident to the Barke police station, no immediate action was taken.
The Commissioner confirmed that a case has been registered in connection with the incident, and the police are actively investigating. "We are reviewing CCTV footage to gather evidence, and those responsible for the assault will be arrested," said Commissioner Agarwal.

In the video, the young woman recounted the events of that night. She stated that she and her family had gone to the hotel around 9:30 pm and left after dinner at 11 pm. When she went to the washroom, she was shocked to find a man inside the women's toilet. Upon exiting, she was confronted by two more men who were rude to her. After reporting the incident to the cash counter, the issue appeared to be resolved with an apology.
However, the situation escalated when she reached the parking lot, where she found a bike blocking her car. As she attempted to reverse her car, the biker (same men from the washroom,) reportedly began verbally abusing her. When her family intervened, the altercation intensified, and one of the men allegedly struck her. As she tried to defend herself, another individual joined in and threatened her life.
The young woman also alleged that when she initially went to the Pandeshwar women's police station to report the incident, she was directed to the Barke police station. She eventually filed a complaint at Barke, and an FIR was registered.
