Mangaluru: UP native held for bid to molest girl
Mangaluru (PTI): A 23-year-old man has been arrested on charge of attempting to molest a minor girl at Maravoor in Mangaluru taluk, Karnataka, police said on Thursday.
He was identified as Gopal Binda, a native of Uttar Pradesh, said the police.
According to a complaint from the girl's parents who are labourers from the northern region, the man sneaked into the room of the workers and tried to sexually assault the girl. The incident was reported on January 23.
A case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was filed against him, said the police.

Seven killed as govt hospital’s compound wall collapse due to rain
Bengaluru (PTI): Seven people, including three children, were killed when the compound wall of a hospital collapsed here on Wednesday, police said.
The incident occurred in the Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital, they added.
When the heavy rains, coupled with strong winds, battered the area, the seven victims were taking shelter near the wall, which suddenly came down crashing, police further said. All seven people were killed on the spot, they added.
According to police sources, the victims were street vendors.
Police and emergency services personnel rushed to the spot with an earthmover to bring out the bodies from the debris with the help of residents.
