Mangaluru: VarthaBharati’s Senior Sub-Editor Muhammad Imthiyaz Shah has won this year's prestigious PaGo award instituted by Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists Union. Imthiyaz won this award for his report on Kodagu floods and the state of the district post the destructive natural calamity. 

Imthiyaz will be awarded during a official ceremony on 27th February at Mangaluru Press Club .

Imthiyaz’s report on the state of Kodagu district after the floods and an analysis of how the district can be brought back to normalcy was published in Vartha Bharati on 31st August , 2018.

The jury, comprising senior journalist Surendra Shetty, Reshma G. Ullal and Prof. Moulya Jeevan selected Imthiyaz’s report for the award.

The award consist a Memento and a cash prize of Rs. 10,001/-.

Thane (PTI): Authorities have seized illegally stored 1,839 gas cylinders and seven vehicles worth over Rs 67 lakh in the Dombivli MIDC area of Thane district, officials said on Saturday.

A special vigilance team of the Mumbai Rationing Department detected an illegal storage of domestic and commercial LPG cylinders in Phase-2 of Dombivli (East).

Cylinders belonging to multiple gas agencies were found stockpiled in closed vehicles, unauthorised warehouses, and open sheds without mandatory permissions from the Explosives Department, Fire Department, or oil companies, according to an official release.
