Mangaluru: A tragic incident occurred at Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru as a 28-year-old Asha worker from Puttur lost her life on Wednesday morning due to severe bleeding during childbirth.

The deceased has been identified as Bhavya, the wife of Balakrishna Gowda and a resident of Mura Colony in Hirebandadi village, Puttur taluk. She leaves behind her husband and three sons, who now mourn the untimely loss.

Bhavya was admitted to the government hospital in Puttur on Monday after experiencing labor pains. She successfully delivered a baby boy, her third child, on Tuesday night. However, complications arose immediately after the delivery when Bhavya began to experience heavy bleeding. Despite efforts to stabilize her condition, her condition deteriorated rapidly. Consequently, she was rushed to Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru in hopes of receiving critical medical assistance.

Tragically, the medical interventions at Wenlock Hospital were unable to reverse the situation, and Bhavya succumbed to her condition on Wednesday morning, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Mullanpur (PTI): Rajasthan Royals defeated Punjab Kings by six wickets in their Indian Premier League match here on Tuesday.

Invited to bat, opener Prabhsimran Singh scored 59 up front while Marcus Stoinis provided the final flourish with an unbeaten 62 off 22 balls as Punjab Kings posted 222 for 4.

The Royals then put up a collective batting effort to overhaul the target with four balls to spare.

Earlier, leg spinner Yash Punja picked up two wickets for the visitors.
