Manipal, December 2: A team of six miscreants kidnapped a person while walking, in a car and robbed him off all gold ornaments at Lakshmindra Nagar here on Sunday at 4.45 am.
Victim Vijay Kumar AS (65) of Lakshmindra Nagar was going for a walk from MGM College to Lakshmindra Nagar when the robbers came in a car from Udupi side and stopped the vehicle near Vijay Kumar and forced him to board the car. It is said that there were seven members in the car and they have covered their faces. After taking Vijay Kumar into the vehicle, the robbers covered the eyes and mouth with plastic tapes and even tied his hands. They snatched Rs 120 cash and two rings worth Rs 50,000 from him. Later, he was dumped at Kinnimulki in Udupi and fled the scene. The victim has lodged a complaint at Manipal police station.

Mysuru (Karnataka) (PTI): A balloon seller was killed and four others injured in a balloon gas cylinder explosion here on Thursday, City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar said.
According to her, the accident happened near the entrance of the Karnataka Exhibition Authority in the city.
Police had earlier said two persons died in the incident.
The balloon seller, appearing to be a 40 year-old man, was killed instantaneously while four others suffered injuries.
The condition of the injured is critical, she told reporters.
According to police, a large number of people had arrived for the exhibition due to Christmas vacation.
