Kudmul Ranga Rao is the name nominated for Town Hall
Mangaluru, August 28: The inauguration of 13 developmental works and 28 works’ Shilanyasa in the limits of Mangaluru Municipal Corporation will be held at 10:30 am on August 29 at Town Hall here. During the function, the town hall will be named after Kudmul Ranga Rao, said Mayor Bhaskar Moily.
Speaking to reporters at his office on Tuesday, he said that the District in-charge Minister UT Khader would inaugurate the programme.
MLA D. Vedavyas Kamath will preside over the function.
Opposition leader in Legislative Council Kota Srinivas Poojary, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA Dr. Bharat Shetty, Ivan D'Souza, Pratapchandra Shetty, BM Farooq, K Harish Kumar and others will be the guests for the function.
A total of Rs 47,241.10 crore developmental works have to be implemented in the city under MMC and Mangaluru Smart City project. A sum of Rs. 10 lakh is being donated to Kodagu victims, Mayor Bhaskar Moily said.
Deputy Mayor Muhammad Kunjattabail, Shashidhar Hegde, Naveen D'Souza, Praveen Chandra Alva, former Mayor Mahabala Marla and MMC Commissioner Muhammad Nazir were present.

Student killed, several injured as school picnic bus overturns
Nagpur (PTI): A student was killed and several students and teachers were injured as the bus carrying them to a picnic spot overturned near here on Tuesday morning, police said.
The accident took place when students and teachers of Saraswati High School in Shankar Nagar area here were heading for a picnic spot in neighbouring Wardha district in five buses.
One of the buses, with some 50 persons on board, overturned near Deoli Pendhari village on Hingani Road in a hilly section on the outskirts of the city, said an official of Hingna police station.
The deceased boy was a Class 7 student, he said, without disclosing the name. A girl and a teacher sustained severe injuries and were rushed to the All India Institute Of Medical Sciences, Nagpur, while others were taken to a nearby rural hospital.
Investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident, police said.
