Mangaluru, Jan 11: Communist Party of India (CPI) national secretary and Rajya Sabha Member Binoy Viswam said that it was inevitable for the secular parties and organizations to take up united fight with a slogan ‘Modi hatao - Desh bachao’ to protect the Constitutional values.
Addressing a two-day convention of the CPI State Council here on Friday, Binoy Viswam said that Narendra Modi-led anti-labourers and fascist government was ruling the country due to which, the Constitutional values have lost their relevance. The foundation of the democracy was shaking. At this time, the secular parties which have faith on democracy are forming together and the voting against the BJP in the five states assembly elections was a good development. Also it was inevitable to topple the Narendra Modi government to protect the democracy, he said.
By announcing 10 per cent reservation to the poor from the upper caste, the central government has been trying to cheat the people of the country. Thus, it has proved that the central government was against the poor. The government has fixed up to Rs 8 lakh annual income to get the 10 per cent reservation, which means, the ‘poor’ beneficiary would have Rs 66,600 salary per month. But though the labourers have been protesting demanding Rs 18,000 per month, the central government has not considered their demand, he said.
The concept of Swaraj of Gandhi means, providing Food, Shelter and Education to all. Unfortunately, it was not fulfilled even after 70 years of independence. Now, Modi who says ‘Sab ka saath, sab ka vikas’, was with ‘Ambani, Adani ka saath’ and he was not with the poor, he alleged.
Shantaram Pai, BV Kakkilaya, Subbarao and others of Mangaluru have contributed a lot to the country through CPI, Binoy recalled.
CPI national council member PV Lokesh, State secretary Sathi Sundaresh, Leaders Anantha Subbarao, Vijay Bhaskar, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district secretary V. Kukyan, Sitaram Berinje and others were present.
