Moodbidri: Two killed, three hospitalized due to lightning strike
Mangaluru: Two people reportedly died while three others were hospitalized after various parts in Dakshina Kannada district witnessed heavy rainfall followed by thunder and lightning.
The two youngsters who lost their lives due to lightning have been identified as Yashwanth (22), and Maniprasad (22), both residents of Kunjibailu in Moodbidri.
Three other people have also been hospitalized after the lightning strike. The injured have been identified as Ganesh, Sandeep, and Praveen. They are all being treated at a private hospital in Moodbidri.
According to the police the five victims had been to Yarugundi falls when heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning lashed Moodbidri. Two of them died while three others were hospitalized after the incident.
A case in this regard has been registered at the local police station.

Unidentified men set fire to TVK campaign office near Srirangam
Tiruchirapalli (PTI): A campaign office of the actor Vijay-led TVK was allegedly torched by unidentified miscreants in Kamanayakkanpalayam village near Srirangam in the early hours of Friday, police said.
According to the police, the damage is minimal. Fire had engulfed the thatched roof providing shade at the entrance of the building that served as the party’s election office for the Srirangam constituency.
While on social media, a CCTV footage of two unidentified men fleeing on motorbike is being circulated as the culprits, police said the video footage is yet to be verified.
Based on a complaint lodged by TVK, the Pettaivaithalai Police have registered a case and initiated a search for the perpetrators.
