Mangaluru, July 03: An incident of cheating a bank of Rs 27 lakh by creating fake records was came to light when a case was registered at Economics and Narcotics Crime Police Station here.

it is alleged that H Srinivas Shenoy and Shobha had created fake documents for a house in an apartment at Marpadi village in Moodbidre taluk.

The accused H Srinivas Shenoy has 1150 sq ft house in Residency Apartment in the village and Shobha had planned to purchase it. At this time, both the accused created cock and bull story that their original documents of the house were lost. After creating fake documents, they had got ‘No Claim Certificate”, it is said.

In November 2017, both the accused applied for loan at Mallikatte Union Bank of  India in Mangaluru. After completing the process and loan was sanctioned and documents were sent to Union Bank of India Mangaluru City Manager Ramesh Nayak. Based on this, the manager had opened the loan account of the second accused and sanctioned Rs 27 lakh amount after getting the security documents.

On December 7, 2017, the accused had transferred the amount to Moodbidri Axis Bank account. But Union Bank of India city manager Ramesh Nayak noticed an auction notice of a house in Marpadi village published in a newspaper on May 16, 2018.

When verified, both the accused had created fake documents and cheated the Union Bank of India of Rs 27 lakh. A case was registered at the Economics and Narcotics Crime Police Station.

Bareilly (UP), Nov 24: Three people died when their car fell into the Ramganga river from a partially constructed bridge here on Sunday, police said, adding that they suspect the driver was misled by its navigation system into taking the unsafe route.

The accident occurred around 10 am on the Khalpur-Dataganj road when the victims were travelling from Bareilly to Dataganj in the Badaun district, they said.

"Earlier this year, floods had caused the front portion of the bridge to collapse into the river, but this change had not been updated in the system," Circle Officer Ashutosh Shivam said.

The driver was using a navigation system and did not realise that the bridge was unsafe, driving the car off the damaged section, the police said.

There were no safety barriers or warning signs on the approach to the damaged bridge, leading to the fatal accident, Shivam said.

Upon receiving information, police teams from Faridpur, Bareilly and Dataganj police station rushed to the spot. They recovered the vehicle and the bodies from the river, Shivam added.

The circle officer said that bodies had been sent for post-mortem. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
