Mangaluru: The Mangaluru CCB Police under its ‘drug free Mangaluru’ operation on Saturday arrested a Nigerian origin woman, who is reportedly believed to be a prime drug peddler involved in selling MDMA and its trafficking network.

The CCB Police arrested the Nigerian woman identified as Adewole Adetutu Anu Yane Regina Zara (33), who was currently residing in Bangalore. The Police confiscated 400 Kgs of MDMA drugs worth 20 Lakhs, and I Phone and Rupees 2,910 from the accused. 

The police informed that the accused a native of Nigeria, came to India on a study visa and then worked as a nurse for some time. And later, she was engaged in trafficking drugs. 

Meanwhile, cases have been registered against her in Ullal, CEN Police Station, Bunder, Kankanady Town, Konaje and Surathkal Police Stations. It has been reported that the other individuals involved in these 7 cases procured drugs from her. The Police further informed that she was produced before the court and was remanded in judicial custody.

The team of officers participating in the operation comprised ACP of CCB unit P.A. Hegde, Inspector of Police Shyam Sundar H.M, along with Sub-Inspectors Rajendra B, Sharanappa Bhandari, Sudeep MV, Narendra, and several others.

Kalaburagi (Karnataka), Nov 26: A newborn baby boy was allegedly kidnapped from Kalaburagi district hospital by two women disguised as hospital staff, police said on Tuesday.

The incident occurred at around 3 pm on Monday, they said.

CCTV footage from the hospital premises shows the two women wandering around the campus. Additional footage captures them fleeing the hospital with the infant.

Police said that the suspects, dressed in white doctor’s aprons and with their faces partially covered, posed as hospital staff.

"They approached the mother, claiming the baby needed tests, and then fled with the infant," police added.

"We have registered a case under Section 137 (Kidnapping) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Three teams have been formed to trace the accused and recover the baby. We have some leads, and our teams are actively working on the case," a senior police officer stated.
