Mangaluru: The grieving parents of Abdul Rahman alias Rahim alias Monu (34), who was brutally murdered on Tuesday in Kagudde, mourned the loss of their son, asserting his innocence and demanding strict punishment for those responsible.

Speaking to Vartha Bharati on Wednesday, Abdul Khader and his wife Asia, parents of the deceased, said through tears, “We are very poor people. Our son was innocent. He never went to anyone’s house to cause harm. He was killed without reason. He was just doing his work. Now, his two young children are left orphaned. We want justice. The murderers must be given the harshest punishment.”

Abdul Rahman, remembered by locals as a warm and sociable individual, served as the general secretary of the local mosque and had no affiliation with any political or fringe organizations, according to his family.

Despite heavy rain, a large number of villagers gathered for his final rites, many openly expressing anger at what they termed a deteriorating law and order situation in Dakshina Kannada.

“In the past, we never witnessed such targeted killings. Now, it feels like serial murders are happening. The state Home Minister has failed in his duties. He should resign,” said an elderly mourner, reflecting the growing frustration among the public.
