Udupi: Deputy Commissioner G. Jagadish has informed that with an aim to help revive the economy, lockdown will be relaxed in the district and several developmental works will be permitted as no coronavirus cases have been reported in the district for the last 30 days.
Clarifying this through a video conference on Tuesday evening, he said, "As the district has been listed in the Green Zone, permission is given to restart certain activities in the district accordingly.
"Factories are allowed to operate in rural areas. Industries and construction works can begin. Agriculture and fishing activities have also been allowed. The supply of raw materials for building construction is also permitted. Stone quarries, dunes, and gravel canals will be started" he said.
He further clarified that jewellery shops, beauty parlors, salons, and spas should not be opened and private offices should also remain shut. Hotels are allowed to provide take away services and stores can be opened from 7 am to 11 pm only and no one can open the shops after that.
The deputy commissioner also warned people against stepping out unnecessarily.

Budaun (UP), Apr 30 (PTI): The Budaun Police on Thursday busted a gang allegedly involved in preparing fake Aadhaar cards and forged documents, and arrested three of its members, officials said.
The action was carried out in the Hazratpur area, where the accused were found operating an illegal setup to generate fake identity documents, they said.
The accused have been identified as Farman Ali, a resident of Munshi Nagla, Anuj Kumar of Uprela, and Brajnandan of Sirsauli.
The police said a fingerprint scanner, three laptops, a hard disk, a scanner, a large number of Aadhaar cards and several suspicious documents were recovered from their possession.

During interrogation, it was revealed that the gang had been involved in preparing fake identity documents for a long time, misleading people and earning money through illegal means, officials said.
Station House Officer Pushpendra Singh said the accused have been produced before a court, and efforts are underway to identify and arrest other members of the gang.
He added that further revelations are likely as the investigation progresses.
