Police makes arrests in Someshwar Home guard assault case
Ullal: The Ullal Police have reportedly arrested members of a gang who allegedly assaulted a home guard, who advised precautions to the accused to not to venture into sea, due to dangerous waves near Someshwar Temple.
The accused identified as Vidyasagar alias Sagar, Vineet Poojary, Abhilash, Avinash have been accused of assaulting the Home guard and making derogatory remarks against him.
The incident occurred on the evening of June 30, when Santosh Kumar was on duty at Someshwara Beach. He noticed the members of the gang playing in the water and warned them of the dangers posed by the gushing waves during the rainy season, instructing them to come to the shore.

Angered by the warning, the group verbally abused Santosh and threatened him. It has been alleged that accused Vidyasagar alias Sagar grabbed Santosh's uniform and physically assaulted him, and the others reportedly pushed him. Acting on Santosh's complaint, the Ullal police have registered a case and made the arrests.

Delhi govt sets up 24/7 flood control room
New Delhi (PTI): The Delhi government has set up a 24X7 flood control room that will monitor real time data from the Hathni Kund Barrage from where Yamuna water is released in Delhi.
City government ministers Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj made the announcement at a joint press conference here following a meeting of the apex committee on supervising, recommending and coordinating flood control measures in the National Capital Territory.
They said the flood control room will be manned by officials from different agencies including the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Delhi Development Authority and the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).
"Last year, the Yamuna reached to its highest levels in 70 years. The Delhi government is gearing up to tackle any possibility of floods. The control room is in touch with officials at Hathini Kund barrage from where Yamuna river discharge is received. After release of one lakh cusec of water, relief and rescue machinery starts working," Atishi said.
Bharadwaj said the control room will monitor data in real time and will be entirely computerised.
