Belthangady: Noted local singer Jitendra Shetty Karyana died at a private hospital in Mangaluru on Friday morning, following a short spate of illness. He was 55.
Shetty was a native of Padangady Karyana and was currently residing in Thenkakaranduru. He is survived by his wife, a son, and a daughter.
Shetty was known to have been involved in a variety of musical forms, including bhajan and ‘bhakti rasamanjari for the last several years. He was also the coordinator of ‘Swathi Musical’, Belthangady, and supporter of the ‘Namma Materla Onje’ art troupe.
Shetty was greatly respected as an artiste who strove to promote art and artistes all through his life, said sources.

Belthangady: Khazi Shaikhuna Thwaka Ahmed Musliyar of Dakshina Kannada District handed over the keys of a renovated house to the family of the late Ramalan Azhari during a program organized by the Dakshina Kannada District Janiyyatul Muallimin on Thursday at Kajur Perdadi Ajmer Khaja Juma Masjid.
The event was presided over by District Janiyyatul Muallimeen President Shansuddin Darimi Pammale Madannur, with Secretary Muhammad Navi Mundole welcoming the attendees. Engineer Muhammad Twahir Bangerakatte was honored on the occasion for his commendable efforts in renovating the house.
