Karkala: Sri Ram Sena chief Pramod Muthalik has said that he would be contesting the upcoming Assembly elections from Karkala constituency as an independent candidate.

Addressing a press meet in Karkala, Muthalik said that he had been urged by many of the Sena members to be their representative and put forth their woes.

“I have made several tours of the region and received a lot of support from the people. The level of corruption is high in Karkala and the people have suffered greatly. I will work diligently against the corrupt activities here,” he promised.

The Sri Ram Sena head said that he did not oppose the BJP or its ideology. Rather, he was fighting against the ideology of specific people in the BJP,” said Muthalik.

“I will never forget the insult meted out to me by the BJP. If they are indeed supporters of Hindutva, the BJP members should support me in Karkala,” he declared.

Sri Ram Sena leaders Gangadhar Kulkarni, Harish Adhikari, Sudhir Hebri, Sundar and Jayaram were present at the meet.
