Puttur: In an incident that occurred on Tuesday night, an individual who had gone to refill fuel for his car at the Petrol station at Darbe was assaulted by a gang, while his car was reportedly damaged.

A case has been registered at the Puttur City Police station in this regard, and 6 of the accused in the case have been reportedly arrested by the police.

The victimized individual who was assaulted by the gang has been identified as Radhakrishna (44), a resident of Kemmai in Puttur Taluk.

The victim who sustained injuries has been admitted to the hospital. As per the complaint registered with the police, the victim’s Innova car was also damaged in the incident.

The Police have registered a case against the accused Kishore Golthamajal, Rakesh Chodi, Rehmanth, Ibrahim Kabak, Deviprasad, and Ashraf Peraje, and reportedly arrested them for committing assault.

It is learned that the accused Kishore had been trying to persuade Radhakrishna for the past 3 days to give favourable testimony in support of an individual named Prithesh in the court case regarding Sampya Karthik’s Murder that occurred two years ago. It is also learned that a war of words has ensued between the two during their interaction and the gang assault was carried out in retaliation.

Mumbai (PTI): Police have arrested a man and seized over 500 grams of heroin worth Rs 2.54 crore in the illicit market from him in Mumbai, officials said on Friday.

The police's Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) made the drug seizure in Santacruz in the western suburbs. The operation was conducted by the Kandivali unit of the ANC on Thursday as part of a special crackdown against drug trafficking in the area, they said.

Acting on specific inputs, an ANC team conducted a raid in Santacruz (East) and intercepted a man. During a search, the team recovered 508 grams of high-grade heroin from his possession, an official said.

The seized contraband, a highly addictive, opioid drug derived from morphine, is estimated to be worth Rs 2.54 crore in the international market, he informed.

Following the seizure, a case was registered against the man under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and he was formally placed under arrest in the early hours of Friday.

The police are currently investigating the source of the drug and trying to identify the intended recipients of the consignment, he said.
