Udupi, July 19: Esha Vittala Swamiji of Kemaru Sandipani Ashram suspected that rejection of Puritanism and embracing of the poor people irrespective of castes and religion might have caused the death of Lakshmivara Tirtha Swamiji of Shiroor Mutt.
Speaking to reporters near KMC hospital at Manipal on Thursday, the swamiji said that Shiroor Swamiji did not have any major health problems. So, the government should intervene and probe the death issue of the swamiji, he demanded.
The Shiroor swamiji was not always using solid food. He was taking juice. The food was being prepared in the Mutt. Now, a comprehensive inquiry should be conducted to know whether the swamiji was poisoned or not in his food, he demanded.
“When he spoke to me five days ago, he expressed his desire to move the court on handing over the Presiding Deity. Literally, he wept for the Presiding Deity. He was being haunted by the idol of Anna Vittala”, the swamiji said.
