Mangaluru: The Deputy Director of the Department of Public Instructions (DDPI) of Dakshina Kannada has declared that, starting the first week of September, classes will be held for the whole day on a total of 14 Saturdays through the year in all schools in the district.
He has added that, as instructed by the Deputy Commissioner, holidays were declared for schools on seven days in July due to torrential rain.

In order to make up for the loss of class for the school children, whole-day classes will be held on 14 Saturdays, said the DDPI, adding that schools have been told to conduct classes as decided by the Education Department.
