Mangaluru: Chairman of Bearys Group of Institutions, Syed Mohamed Beary on Monday lauded the efforts of teachers in lives of students and called on people in recognising the significant role they play in shaping the society.

Syed Mohamed Beary, who is also the honorary advisor of Muslim Educational Institutions Federation (MEIF) was speaking at the Educational Conference organised by the federation here at Townhall in the city.

“Parents put in a lot of effort while raising their children. While the teacher has to deal with a set of students from different background and different cultures and they take on this challenge to provide quality education to the students. These efforts should be lauded and recognised." He said during his address.

“When we started our educational institution, we didn't have something like MEIF to support or guide us. We faced several challenges in finding ojr foothold in the sector. Today, more clear golas are being set with better planning while initiating a project.” he said.

He also spoke about the contributions of teachers and management of an institution in the current scenario and said it needs to be recognised.

“The dedication of a teacher in working towards the growth of a child should always be recognized,” he pointed out.

“Gaining wealth and social status should not be the only goal in our life. Providing excellent education should be our priority,” he reminded.

The conference began with recitation of verses from Holy Quran by students of Al Iqra School, Mangaluru while students of the Bearys Public School voiced the prayer.

MEIF President Moosabba P Beary welcomed the gathering and Umar Teekay, Honorary President of the MEIF and Chairman of the Teekays Group, chaired the event.

Kundapur: Two persons died and several students were injured after a college tour bus rammed into a tanker and a goods lorry parked by the roadside near Maravanthe Beach in Trasi on Wednesday afternoon.

The bus was carrying final-year B.Com students of Rambhapuri College from Shivamogga district. According to sources, the group had left for the tour two days ago.

There were around 50 persons in the bus, including 24 male students and 23 female students.

The students had visited Murdeshwar and were travelling towards Udupi on Wednesday when the accident occurred.

Police said the bus driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, following which the bus first hit a parked gas tanker and then crashed into a goods lorry stationed ahead.

The front portion of the bus was badly mangled in the impact. Preliminary information said the bus cleaner and a cooking assistant travelling with the group died in the accident. Several injured students were shifted to different hospitals in Kundapur for treatment.
