Mangaluru: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged mass burial of hundreds of bodies in Dharmasthala held a key meeting with senior police officials in Mangaluru on Friday, sources said.
According to reliable sources, DIG of the SIT M.N. Anucheth, met with senior officers including Western Range IGP Amit Singh to discuss the progress and direction of the investigation.
The SIT, which has been formed specifically to probe the mysterious deaths and alleged burials reported in Dharmasthala, has arrived from Bengaluru. The team is expected to visit Belthangady and Dharmasthala police stations to begin ground-level investigation, sources added.

Wolvaardt and Annerie Dercksen (44 not out) shared a crucial 52-run stand for the third wicket, which formed the backbone of the comfortable chase.
Earlier, India got off to a brisk start through Shafali Verma, who made 34 off 20 balls, while Jemimah Rodrigues (36 off 29) and Harmanpreet stitched a 71-run stand to lift the total.
