Udupi, July 23: SP Laxman Nimbargi on Monday visited the Shiroor Moola Mutt and collected information regarding the death of Lakshmivara Tirtha Swamiji of Shiroor Mutt.

As the investigation was going on under the direction of the SP, he has visited the mutt and inspected some rooms in the mutt and collected information about CCTV camera and DVR. He has also interrogated some people related to the mutt, it is said.

SP clarifies

The SP said that the news that a woman was admitted to poison the swamiji was completely false news. Till now, the police did not take any woman into their custody and enquired her. He also declined the news that the DVR of the CCTV camera of the mutt was missing. All news being circulated regarding the death of the swamiji were far from truth, the SP said.

Police team has not gone anywhere

As the reason for the death of the swamiji is not yet known, the police are waiting for the autopsy and FSL report. Without having these two reports, the police were finding it difficult to get the lead in the case. “Investigation is on related to the case. Police cannot take any step without getting the autopsy and FSL report. However, the police have been interrogating some people just to collect the information. Apart from this, they have not taken anyone into custody and the police teams have never been to other places”, a senior police officer said.
