Mangaluru: Former Karnataka Minister and Congress MLA from Ullal, UT Khader has asserted that the Karnataka Government should announce a special package for Indian expats who have lost jobs due to COVID-19 lockdown in Gulf.
The former minister while addressing a video conferencing session with stranded Kannadigas in Saudi Arabia added that he would urge the Karnataka Government led by CM Yediyurappa to announce the special rehabilitation package for Indian expats who have lost their job in gulf and have returned to India.
He also was of the opinion Indian expats from Saudi Arabia remit huge sum of money to the home state but have always been neglected and fail to get any benefits. He also assured the stranded Kannadigas that he will put in efforts to convince the Centre to operate more flights between Saudi Arabia and Karnataka as a part of Vande Bharat mission.
Khader also spoke to the two stranded Kannadigas who are seeking urgent medical attention. The MLA assured that he would get in touch with Indian Embassy in the Kingdom and would discuss their case to facilitate their journey back to India at the earliest.

Vijayanagara: One man was killed and 12 others were injured after a truck hit vehicle they were traveling in on the National Highway 50 stretch on the outskirts of Koodligi in the district.
The accident victim, Madhu (27), is learned to have been an employee of Reliance Digital from Andhra Pradesh.
The vehicle was reportedly traveling from Bengaluru to Koodligi and the passengers are learned to have been seriously injured following the collision with the truck, which was found to have a Maharashtra registration.
Koodligi Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Mallesh Dodmani and Circle Inspector Prahlad Channagiri arrived at the accident spot on being informed of the accident.
The police officers and locals rescued the injured passengers and got them shifted to the Koodligi Government Hospital. Some of the passengers were reportedly taken to the Ballari Trauma Care Centre for further treatment.
A case has been registered at the Koodligi Police Station and the officers are investigating the incident.
