Kadaba: A student was cheated over a phone call and received a sweet box and some pooja materials instead of a smartphone he was promised after paying money as parcel charges.

A resident of Mapala, college student, received a phone call saying your phone number has won a gift for being selected in lucky numbers in the promotional campaign of Bengaluru's HHM marketing company. Further, the caller informed him that the gift would be sent by post and he must collect it by paying VPP fees.

Convinced by the caller, the student collected the parcel by paying Rs. 1600 at a post office on Friday. The student was shocked when he opened the box.  Instead of a mobile phone, the box contained a sweet pack, Laxmi idol, Ganesh idol and some pooja materials.
