Mangaluru: In an operation held late Monday night, the jail warden and staff led by the Jail Superintendent are said to have conducted a sudden inspection of the cells and confiscated mobile phones, SIM cards and also chargers.
The police team reportedly seized two mobile phones, one SIM card and cordless mobile phone charger in the possession of the jail residents.
Mangaluru Barke Police have registered a case against the residents for possession of non-permissible things in prison.
The matter was also brought to the notice of DGP for Karnataka's Prisons and Correctional Services Department Alok Kumar in Bengaluru, District Superintendent of Prison Sharanabasappa has said.

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President DK Shivakumar has passed an order suspending Member of the Legislative Council Abdul Jabbar from the primary membership of the party.
Shivakumar, who is also Deputy Chief Minister, has stated in his order that the MLC is to be suspended with immediate effect.
Jabbar is said to have been suspended for his alleged anti-party activities during the by-election to the Davanagere South Assembly constituency.
