Sullia: The owner of Avinash Buses in Sullia, Narayan Rai (73) reportedly hung himself and died by suicide on Monday night.
Reportedly, Narayan Rai had been suffering from health problems for some time and due to this, he had been severely affected psychologically. On Monday night when he was alone at his residence, Narayan Rai is said to have taken this drastic step and ended his life.
A case has been registered in this regard at the Sullia Police station.
During the 80s when there were no buses available in the rural regions of Sullia, Narayan Rai had begun his Bus services and introduced buses to the region. Students and employees who were heading to school and work had been utilizing his bus services, which had, in turn, made Avinash Buses into their valued lifeline.
His line of bus services provided by Avinash Buses is known to operate in areas such as Sullia Mandekolu, Sullia Thudikaana, Sullia Panatturu, Sullia Kadaba, Sullia Markanje and various other routes.
The deceased is survived by his wife, two sons, and brothers, it is learned.

Kalaburagi: A 35-year-old BJP worker died after setting herself on fire outside the house of a realtor in Nandikur village of Kalaburagi taluk on Friday night. According to police the deceased has been identified as Jyothi Patil and a case of abetment of suicide has been registered against the realtor, Mallinath Biradar.
In a report published by Deccan Herald, the local police said Jyothi arrived at Biradar’s house late in the evening and knocked on the door. At the time, his wife and three children were inside the house. When the door was opened, Jyothi asked for Biradar and before the family members could respond or intervene, she allegedly poured petrol on herself and set herself ablaze.

Locals rushed to the scene, but the fire's intensity made it difficult to identify the victim. Police officers who arrived on the scene later discovered documents inside a two-wheeler parked near the house. These documents assisted officials in determining her identification. Jyothi’s husband was subsequently called to the spot to confirm it.
